This is complex and depends upon the reason you are seeking an evaluation for your student. If your student has had difficulties acquiring academic skills, and has not responded to interventions within the curriculum to support their learning, an evaluation is warranted. If your student has demonstrated difficulty with attention, focus and executive functioning across settings over time, an evaluation is warranted. Or, if you simply want to have an in-depth understanding of your child’s learning profile, a comprehensive evaluation can provide that insight.

The evaluation process typically involves a parent intake meeting, one or two testing sessions lasting approximately 1.5 hours each, and then a feedback meeting to review the report and findings. From intake to review, the process is approximately 4-6 weeks.

To be considered for a classification of “Mentally Gifted”, an individual would need to demonstrate intellectual abilities in the Extremely High range (130 and above). Most schools consider additional criteria such as high academic achievement, and rates of acquisition and retention. We would work to ensure that the type of information required by your school is collected as part of the evaluation.

Yes! Whether you attend public, private or parochial school, your Local Education Agency provides educational testing services, and you can contact them to complete an evaluation.

There are many reasons to seek out a private evaluation including shortened timeframes for testing, and the right of the school district to decline to evaluate.
